Ground Current Videos
magdahavas.com, 27 July 2016

I am going to post a series of educational videos that I am producing on the ground current pollution problem we are experiencing not only in Ontario but in other provinces and in other countries, like the U.S. Most people are unaware of this form of electromagnetic pollution. However, it is getting worse and needs to be dealt with. Ground current is a problem not only in some rural areas but in urban areas as well. We have considerable information about how it affects livestock, especially dairy cows. It also affects people and non-agriculture animals.

Attempts to bring in a private member’s bill in Ontario to resolve the ground current pollution problem has failed twice now, first in 2006 and again this year. I have no hope that this government is going to do anything useful about the ground current problem. Nor do I think a change in government will make any difference. Our electrical utility, that is responsible for much of this problem, is being sold to the private sector and I certainly don’t think they will spend the money to get the current out of the ground.

Switzerland: Awareness of Health Risks of Wireless Technology?

Switzerland:  Awareness of Health Risks of Wireless Technology?
by Meris Michaels, 29 July 2016

Awareness of the health risks of wireless technology in French-speaking Switzerland ("Suisse Romande") is at best poor, worse - almost non-existent.  There are only a few doctors diagnosing and treating electrosensitivity, although physicians practicing holistic or integrative medicine may be doing so.  Such doctors are rare and cannot take on new patients. There seems to be an unhealthy collusion among doctors to ignore this issue, either out of ignorance, because wireless is everywhere in their offices and in hospitals and clinics, medical education does not include emerging environmental illnesses in its curriculum, and/or they are scared to go against the powerful telecoms industry which is a vital part of the Swiss economy.

We doubt that "Suisse Romande" has ever heard of the environmental medicine counselling structure for electrohypersensitive persons established by the Society of Doctors for the Environment.  One health insurance company promotes mobile phone subscriptions for families, including young children.  Confronted by an advocacy group for safer wireless, they replied by asking for the names of the group's committee members and saying, the group's description of risks was "alarmist".  A major department store sells babyphones for very young children.  The group drew attention to health risks and to the harmful exposure of factory workers in China producing these and received a defensive reply.  Others, who have written to the health and disability insurance authorities, have received unsatisfactory replies.  And yet, the health warnings are there on the sites of the federal government, the Cancer League, and in manuals for mobile phones, virtual reality headsets, smart watches, etc.

Brain Tumours Now the Most Frequent Form of Cancer in U.S. Adolescents

Brain Tumours Now the Most Frequent Form of Cancer in U.S. Adolescents:  Ground-Breaking American Study
c4st.org, 2016

Are worst fears about mobile phones being realized?

Sobering statistics

Brain tumours are now the leading cancer in American adolescents, and incidence is rising in young adults according to the largest, most comprehensive analysis of these age groups to date.

Canada is undoubtedly similar. “The astounding increases reported in this study, especially in young people, mirror what I am seeing in my clinic,” responded Dr. Jacob Easaw, from the Tom Baker Cancer Centre in Calgary. “Canada is in the process of establishing a comparable brain tumour registry, so these analyses will not be available here for 15 or 20 years. I am increasingly convinced that mobile phones are a major cause, and urgent action is needed.”

Time for a cancer prevention strategy for young Canadians!

Abstract

Electromagnetically sensitized people may develop symptoms and health problems, when exposed to certain types of electromagnetic fields (EMF), known as electrical hypersensitivity (EHS). Over time, the effects may become stronger if such exposure continues. The Dutch EHS Foundation is committed to finding ways to understand these phenomena and to doing something about it. This study reports the results of a research questionnaire distributed among EHS people before and after that they had taken measures to reduce their exposure to EMF. Information requested included (1) the types of symptoms that people reported, and (2) the  effects of EMF reduction strategies on the disappearance of EHS symptoms and improvement of well-being.

Soaring Numbers of Teenagers Are Being Diagnosed with Tinnitus

"After headaches, tinnitus is one of the most common symptoms of
electromagnetic hypersensitivity"
#tinnitus #EHS
The conclusion of a 2016 scientific paper on tinnitus and cell phones states: "This study collected evidence for the association between exposure to EMRFR [electromagnetic radiofrequency radiaiton] and tinnitus in some patients, particularly those suffering from electromagnetic hypersensitivity. While it is not fully confirmed, the authors consider it appropriate to direct more attention to cell phone use in the diagnostic investigation of patients with hearing disorders, especially tinnitus. (Click here for text of study.)

The Daily Mail journalist shares what one of the authors of the study has to say, but does not mention the possible role of electromagnetic radiation in causing tinnitus.

Your Inhaler's Watching You: Drugmakers Race For Smart Devices

Your Inhaler's Watching You: Drugmakers Race For Smart Devices
by Reuters, 20 July 2016

LONDON (Reuters) - Makers of inhalers to treat asthma and chronic lung disease are racing to develop a new generation of smart devices with sensors to monitor if patients are using their puffers properly.

Linked wirelessly to the cloud, the gadgets are part of a medical "Internet of Things" that promises improved adherence, or correct use of the medication, and better health outcomes. They may also hold the key to company profits in an era of increasingly tough competition.

Drugmakers believe giving patients and doctors the ability to check inhaler use in this way could be a big help in proving the value of their medicines to governments and insurers, though they need to tread carefully on data privacy.

GlaxoSmithKline, AstraZeneca and Novartis are all chasing the opportunity via deals with device firms including U.S.-based Propeller Health and Australian-listed Adherium, as well as technology players like Qualcomm.

Forced exposure to EMF radiation at work
geovital.com,

Is your health put at risk for your employer’s profitability through radiation producing technology at work?

You see it more and more. Employees pretty much forced to be exposed to unnecessary EMF radiation by their employers because technological innovations make for a more productive and profitable business. Given that science is much divided about the risks of EMF radiation exposure (and the radiation exposure employees are subjected to may very well be under the governmental exposure limits) how do you bring up your desire not be exposed to unnecessary EMF radiation without being labeled a ‘difficult’ employee and perhaps having your career possibilities, or even employment term, immediately reduced?

Turin could slash Wi-Fi over 'radiation' concernsthelocal.it, 25 July 2016

Turin is planning to cut back on Wi-Fi in state schools and government buildings over concerns that radiation might damage people's health.

The plans were outlined last week as the city's new new Five Star Movement (M5S) mayor, Chiara Appendino, presented her council's five-year political plan.

“We're aware that we need to consider electromagnetic radiation when we speak about pollution,” reads page 23 of the council's programme.

“We would like to take all precautions necessary and ask all public structures to work to reduce the volume of emissions and while guaranteeing connectivity for citizens.”

Abstract

This paper constructs persons with environmental sensitivities as comprising a hidden, marginalized group in technological culture that is paying a large price for our industrialized lifestyle. Due to the polluted nature of most public venues, this population is robbed of a sense of ‘‘place’’ necessary to maintain personal relationships. This population is marginalized by health-care providers and shunted into mental health categories, as our current health paradigms are not adequate to frame and categorize health problems caused by our toxic industrial lifestyle. The problem is discussed within the context of the pressures of capitalism, and examples are given of persons with environmental illness receiving mental health diagnoses (an attempted colonization) when they attempt to access mainstream health-care providers who lack knowledge or expertise regarding toxic-induced illness.

"Disastrous" Autism Rate in Children Blamed on Radiation

"Disastrous" Autism Rate in Children Blamed on Radiation
by Jack O'Dwyer, odwyerpr.com, 19 July 2016

The number of children diagnosed with autism has exploded from one in 10,000 several decades ago to one in 68, according to Centers for Disease Control & Prevention.

Among those searching for reasons for the explosion are Rep. Dan Barton (R-Ind.), who calls it “worse than an epidemic, an absolute disaster,” and Rep. Carolyn Maloney (D-New York), representing much of the East Side, who blames it on excessive vaccinations of children.

Autism is defined by CDC as a range of functional disabilities including lack of social skills, intellectual disability and language impairment. Victims may engage in repetitive movements or unusual behaviors such as flapping their arms or rocking from side to side.

Smartphones’ Electromagnetic Interference Can Affect Pacemakers In Patients

Smartphones’ Electromagnetic Interference Can Slightly Affect Pacemakers In Patients
by Pauline Angela Quiambao,
thenewsindependent, 19 June 2016

Patients with heart conditions that requires them to have a pacemaker to regulate their heartbeat should be warned against the harmful effects of smartphones to the device.

“Pacemakers can mistakenly detect electromagnetic interference (EMI) from smartphones as a cardiac signal, causing them to briefly stop working, this leads to a pause in the cardiac rhythm of the pacing dependent patient and may result in syncope. For implantable cardioverter defibrillators (ICDs) the external signal mimics a life-threatening ventricular tachyarrhythmia, leading the ICD to deliver a painful shock,” explained author Dr. Carsten Lennerz, a cardiology resident in the Clinic for Heart and Circulatory Diseases at the German Heart Centre.

Abstract

Background

Radiofrequency radiation in the frequency range 30 kHz–300 GHz was evaluated to be Group 2B, i.e. ‘possibly’ carcinogenic to humans, by the International Agency for Research on Cancer (IARC) at WHO in May 2011. Among the evaluated devices were mobile and cordless phones, since they emit radiofrequency electromagnetic fields (RF-EMF). In addition to the brain, another organ, the thyroid gland, also receives high exposure. The incidence of thyroid cancer is increasing in many countries, especially the papillary type that is the most radiosensitive type.

- USDA passes on oversight of cooking oil new to store shelves
- Monsanto, DuPont, Dow developing crops with the new technology

Products made possible through gene-editing have landed on grocery shelves. Whether they’ll stay there is up to shoppers wary of technological tinkering.

Food companies are now required to label GMOs in Vermont, and debate is raging over a federal standard. But so far, regulators at the U.S. Department of Agriculture have taken a pass on overseeing gene-edited crops. They say cutting DNA from a plant is not the same as adding genes from another organism. So corn injected with outside DNA is classified a genetically modified organism, but canola that can tolerate herbicide because scientists removed a gene is not.

United States: FCC Approves 5G Broadband Rules, Promising Faster Wireless Services

Electrosmog and Autoimmune Disease

Electrosmog and autoimmune disease

Abstract

Studies in mice have shown that environmental electromagnetic waves tend to suppress the murine immune system with a potency similar to NSAIDs, yet the nature of any Electrosmog effects upon humans remains controversial. Previously, we reported how the human Vitamin-D receptor (VDR) and its ligand, 1,25-dihydroxyvitamin-D (1,25-D), are associated with many chronic inflammatory and autoimmune diseases. We have shown how olmesartan, a drug marketed for mild hypertension, acts as a high-affinity partial agonist for the VDR, and that it seems to reverse disease activity resulting from VDR dysfunction. We here report that structural instability of the activated VDR becomes apparent when observing hydrogen bond behavior with molecular dynamics, revealing that the VDR pathway exhibits a susceptibility to Electrosmog. Further, we note that characteristic modes of instability lie in the microwave frequency range, which is currently populated by cellphone and WiFi communication signals, and that the susceptibility is ligand dependent. A case series of 64 patient-reported outcomes subsequent to use of a silver-threaded cap designed to protect the brain and brain stem from microwave Electrosmog resulted in 90 % reporting ‘‘definite’’ or ‘‘strong’’ changes in their disease symptoms. This is much higher than the 3–5 % rate reported for electromagnetic hypersensitivity in a healthy population and suggests that effective control of environmental Electrosmog immunomodulation may soon become necessary for successful therapy of autoimmune disease.

New Device Detects Disease Before You Have It

Scientist holds biosensor chip.
"This biochip would be easy to implant, swift to respond, and inexpensive. The chip is comprised of a DNA probe which sits on a graphene field effect transistor. The probe is a double strand of DNA genetically engineered to contain a sequence of coding for a specific SNP. The chip captures DNA or RNA molecules that have a certain kind of mutation. When these molecules bind to the probe, it sends an electrical signal."

Generally speaking, the farther along a serious illness is, the harder it is to cure or even manage. Many types of cancer such as colon, prostate, and breast cancer for instance, among the deadliest, give few if any symptoms before it’s too late. The earlier in its pathogenesis or development, the easier it is to manage and treat. Now, scientists have the means to detect serious illnesses before they begin.

Abstract

PURPOSE:
Smartphone use has dramatically increased in recent years. Smartphones may have adverse health effects, particularly on the eyes, because users stare at the screen for a much longer time than they do with ordinary mobile phones. The objective of this study was to elucidate the relationship between smartphone use and ocular symptoms among adolescents.

Cell Phones Linked to Weaker Bones

"Although small, the new study raises the possibility that long-term exposure to electromagnetic radiation from cell phones could adversely affect bone mineralization. Larger follow-up studies will be needed to confirm or disprove this hypothesis, according to Dr Sravi. Does long-term exposure to 4G LTE cell phone radiation impair cell phone users' health?
Electromagnetic Radiation Safety, May 2016

(Abstract and excerpts follow this summary)

Following is a summary of the second study published on the effects of 4th generation LTE cell phone radiation on the brain activity of cell phone users by the China Academy of Telecommunication Research of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology.

The original study showed that 30 minutes of exposure to LTE phone radiation affected brain activity in the left superior temporal gyrus, left middle temporal gyrus, right superior temporal gyrus, right medial frontal gyrus and right paracentral lobule. The current study found that a 30-minute exposure to LTE radiation modulated the EEG in the alpha and beta bands at the frontal region of the near and remote sides, and at the temporal region on the near side.

By the end of 2013, 100 million cell phones in the U.S. operated on LTE. This number worldwide is expected to exceed 1 billion by the end of this year. Yet the one major study cell phone study being conducted in the U.S. examines the effects of 2nd generation cell phone technology.

Why don't the U.S. and other major nations conduct biological and health effects research on the latest cell phone and wireless technologies?

• The association between the electromagnetic field and neurodegenerative diseases.
• Experimental and clinical studies on the electromagnetic field.

Abstract

In the modern world, people are exposed to electromagnetic fields (EMFs) as part of their daily lives; the important question is “What is the effect of EMFs on human health?” Most previous studies are epidemiological, and we still do not have concrete evidence of EMF pathophysiology. Several factors may lead to chemical, morphological, and electrical alterations in the nervous system in a direct or indirect way. It is reported that non-ionizing EMFs have effects on animals and cells. The changes they bring about in organic systems may cause oxidative stress, which is essential for the neurophysiological process; it is associated with increased oxidization in species, or a reduction in antioxidant defense systems. Severe oxidative stress can cause imbalances in reactive oxygen species, which may trigger neurodegeneration. This review aims to detail these changes. Special attention is paid to the current data regarding EMFs’ effects on neurological disease and associated symptoms, such as headache, sleep disturbances, and fatigue.

Nuclear Chemist Finds Cause of Explosion of Diseases Worldwide is Chemtrails Made Up of Toxic Coal Ash
by Ishtar Babilu Dingir, theholisticworks.com, 6 July 2015

As a 60-year-old, I find it bizarre when people insist that our blue skies were always criss-crossed with blurred white lines. In my memory, they really were not that way. Even 20 years ago, the skies were clearer and bluer, and the thinner contrails from aeroplanes, which are much higher up, dispersed within minutes … unlike the metallic sheen from chemtrails which blocks the sun for half the day.

But it seems that how ever much evidence is provided to show that chemtrailing is a real and present danger to humanity, many cannot face even looking up to see them for fear that their whole world view would then come tumbling down.

It seems that some people need to tell themselves stories – no matter how unlikely the plotlines – about their lives, in order to stay sane. They are like children who refuse to grow up … while the rest of us had to put away our toys some time ago. So I doubt this latest report will make much of an impact on them. But it is a welcome confirmation for those of us who are continually being told by the Child Catchers that we are crazy to ‘believe in’ chemtrails.

World-first study shows excessive time spent on iPads can affect kids muscle and bone development
by Claire Bickers, PerthNow, 2 July 2016

TOO much time spent on iPads and similar touchscreen devices could result in the muscles and bones of young children not developing properly, new research shows.

A Curtin University team in Western Australia, concerned by the increasing amount of time kids spend on portable devices, is behind a world-first study into how screen time impacts physical growth.

Australia ABC Suspends Presenter Over 'W-Fi Is Dangerous' Claims: New Managing Director is Ex-Google Exec

Scaremongering?  Catalyst?  Surely not.
"Under budget attack, and with a new managing director (ex-Google exec Michelle Guthrie) already wielding a funding knife, the review could well put the entire Catalyst program under a cloud."

Catalyst's Dr Maryanne Demasi off air, programme under review
Australian public broadcaster ABC has suspended the presenter behind its unscientific “Wi-Fried”Catalyst programme that aired earlier this year.

Presenter Dr Maryanne Demasi of the popular science program swallowed wholesale the claims of scare-mongers like Devra Davis and Canadian opponent of Wi-Fi in schools, Frank Clegg.

Watch “Wi-fried” and Implement the Precautionary Principle

Watch “Wi-fried” and implement the precautionary principle*

[You may still view “Wi-Fried”.]

The exponential increase in environmental exposure to electromagnetic radiation (microwaves) from wireless devices and Wi-Fi (e.g., routers, smartphones, tablets and any device that uses wireless connections) will probably cause harm. From an evolutionary perspective, this is the first time in human history that we are continuously bombarded by massive increases in microwave radiation–a totally new experience for our body. It is not be surprising that wireless radiation could increase the risk of cancer (Davis, 2010; Knudson, 2016). Why wait 30 plus years until the definitive studies have been completed. Use the precautionary principle and assume that microwave radiation is harmful until proven otherwise.

Study results support push for tougher standards to protect humans from potential health effects

(Photo:) Last month, the National Toxicology Program released partial results from a study on rodents that found an association between radio-frequency radiation and cancer. This has stirred debate about whether the cellphones are tested adequately to protect human health.

Four decades ago, an inspector at the Hartford Police Department raised questions about the safety of one of Motorola’s walkie-talkies. Quirino Balzano, then a newly hired engineer at a Motorola lab in Florida, was asked to prove the devices were safe.

Walkie-talkies, similar to their cellphone successors, emit radio-frequency radiation, which in nominal amounts isn’t known to affect people. The only agreed upon effect of such energy is it can heat human tissue at high levels. The test Dr. Balzano devised was to place the walkie-talkie near a human skull filled with mostly sugar water and measure the temperature of the liquid. That general concept eventually evolved into the industry’s primary method for testing the radiation emissions from cellphones.

Today, every cellphone model sold in the U.S. is tested to ensure it doesn’t exceed energy absorption levels set by the Federal Communications Commission.

But a recent U.S. government study challenges the notion that heating is the only potential health effect, renewing a debate about whether the modern version of Dr. Balzano’s test adequately protects human health.

Glyphosate Sprayed on GMO Crops Linked to Lake Erie’s Toxic Algae Bloom

Lake Erie from space.
Glyphosate Sprayed on GMO Crops Linked to Lake Erie’s Toxic Algae Bloom
by Lorraine Chow, EcoWatch, 5 July 2016

Glyphosate, the controversial main ingredient in Monsanto’s Roundup and other herbicides, is being connected to Lake Erie’s troubling algae blooms, which has fouled drinking water and suffocated and killed marine life in recent years.

Phosphorus—attributed to farm runoff carried by the Maumee River—has long been identifiedas a leading culprit feeding the excessive blooms in the western Lake Erie basin. Now, according to a new study from chemistry professor Christopher Spiese, a significant correlation has been established between the increased use of glyphosate to the percentage of dissolved reactive phosphorus (DRP) in the runoff.

Abstract

In August 2003, 48-year-old JS of Colorado, USA, a fitness therapist and sports nutritionist, contracted neuroinvasive West Nile virus which left her with disabilities due to spinal axonal damage. In August 2014, she suddenly developed symptoms very much like her acute West Nile infection 11 years ago, including focal seizures, ataxia, vertigo and headaches. Her blood count looked normal so there was no obvious infection. What struck her as odd was that when she left her apartment for any length of time, the symptoms stopped. She found out that a new type of wireless modem, enabled for both personal use and functioning as a public hotspot designed to reach up to 100 m, had been installed in the flat under hers. Her neighbor replaced the modem with a router without the hotspot feature. After that, the seizures stopped immediately, and the other symptoms faded gradually, after which she was fine and again could sleep well.

Open Letter Re: ABC Catalyst Wi-Fried Documentary, Australia

Open Letter Re:  ABC Catalyst Wi-Fried Documentary, Australia
by Dr. Magda Havas, 5 July 2016

I recently learned that Wi-Fried, produced by Maryanne Demasi and aired on ABC, Catalyst in Australia, has been removed from public viewing.

As a scientist who does research in this area I find this documentary to be among the best I’ve watched so far. It raises awareness and shares concerns that scientists and medical doctors have about our rapid expansion of wireless technology and exposure to radiofrequency (RF) and microwave (MW) radiation. Well-respected experts in the field were interviewed and the information provided was accurate. Multiple sides of the issue were expressed, which is the norm in “balanced” reporting.

Reporters and documentary makers should not shy away from controversial issues. Indeed some of the best documentaries are controversial. The fact that “not all scientists” agree that “radiofrequency radiation is harmful below guidelines” is not novel and should not be used as the reason to remove this documentary from public viewing.

Australia: ABC's Catalyst Under Reivew, Reporter Suspended After Damning Review on Wi-Fi Program

Catalyst host Maryanne Demasi.  Photo:  ABC TV

We would suggest everyone lodge a complaint with ABC TV Australia.
http://about.abc.net.au/talk-to-the-abc/

ABC TV will very much regret this decision when the day comes that it will find itself reporting on the health disaster created by exposure to wireless technology, especially that of affected children and future generations.

The documentary, "Wi-Fried", has already been removed from ABC TV's site, but can be found on other sites.  We have a link but fear posting it here because it may be removed from the Internet.  So much for "free speech"!

ABC's Catalyst under review, reporter suspended after damning review on Wi-Fi program
by Matthew Knott, Education and communications correspondent, Sydney Morning Herald

The ABC will apologise to its viewers and review its science program Catalyst after an independent investigation found a controversial episode on the potential health risks of Wi-Fi that went to air earlier this year breached its editorial standards.

The damning finding - which will see reporter Maryanne Demasi suspended from on-air assignments until at least September - comes two years after a similar investigation slammed a Catalyst program questioning the use of cholesterol-reducing medications.

Since the age of 9, Marion has been suffering from electrohypersensitivity.  She is hypersensitive to electromagnetic waves.  A serious handicap for this 19-year-old obliged to live as a near-recluse at home.  A new worry has been added to this, related to ERDF's smart meter, Linky.

"It began when I was 9, recalls Marion (*).  I got migraines and sometimes skin rashes.  At the time, we weren't really worried." The troubles worsened when she entered "collège".  "Daily headaches, sometimes with nausea, dizziness.  I began to complain that I did not want to take the bus because of the cell phones.  I did not know why..."

Electrohypersensitivity: When Will People Realise?

"For an electro sensitive person, the only thing that lies ahead as new technology emerges, is solitary suffering and misery."

When will people realise?
by Richard Kimberley, BeyondTheVan, 8 June 2016

Electro hypersensitivity (EHS), Electro sensitivity (ES), microwave sickness… different names for the same condition. A condition that takes your world, turns it upside down and shakes it up just before booting it like a football into mid air, not knowing where it’s going to land next.

I’m electro sensitive. I can’t go near mobile phones, WiFi, phone masts, etc. For quite some time, I was actually embarrassed to tell people this simple fact. Yet if I was suffering from hay fever and happened to land myself in the middle of a freshly mowed field, would I shy away from explaining to someone that I have awful hay fever and need to leave? Course not; but why not? Sensitivities such as hay fever are known and accepted. Just as a fair haired person is known to be more likely burn in the sun than someone with darker features.

Ireland: After Years of Campaigning, Pylons in Lucan and Adamstown Are Being Moved

The three-kilometre stretch of cables and towering structures, which affect eight estates in the area, are to be put underground and in a ‘looping formation’... This decision comes after years of campaigning and opposition from local councilors and residents, who expressed worry at the “incredibly unsightly” pylons, as well as lingering worries over the long-term health risks of living so close to high-voltage power lines.

After years of campaigning, pylons in Lucan and Adamstown are being moved

A timeline for the construction says the substation will be operational by 2018/2019.

LOCAL COUNCILLOR FOR Lucan William Lavelle has welcomed the news that controversial pylons and overhead cables are to be moved from Lucan and Adamstown.

After years of campaigning by locals, the cables and pylons are to be moved as part of Eirgrid’s West Dublin Project, a project which aims to build a new 220 kV gas insulated switchgear substation to supply energy to the Grange Castle Business Park in west Dublin.

“It is now six years since I first raised this at Council meetings and began pushing for removal of unsightly pylons close to homes. This planning decision represents a hard-fought victory and will be warmly welcomed in the local community.”
